Singapore Pioneer Generation Package: Eligibility Criteria
To get the benefit one has to be eligible enough. To get this PGP, the beneficiary must have to be a Singaporean Citizen who will prove these two conditions i.e. they have to be at their 16 or older in the year of 1965 which means they were born on or before 31.12.1949. In 2014, the applicant has also to be 65 or older than that and have got the citizenship on or before 31 December 1986.
If they are standing on the criteria then the authorities will automatically find the eligibility based on the current citizen records. The person who will qualify for the benefits under this package, he/she should have received a notification letter in June 2014 at the address listed on their NRIC. They must have been welcomed by a welcome pack by 1st September 2014. This welcome pack included Fridge magnets as goodies, a pioneer generation card, and a complete list of CHAS clinics and Benefits Booklet etc.
Singapore Pioneer Generation Package: Highlights
Increase amount of MediSave top-up: The eligible pioneers will get the yearly MediSave top-ups for life from $300 to $1,200 depending on their birthdate.
Subsidies in MediShield Life Premium: As per the recent changes, the pioneers will get subsidies of 40-60% based on their age. Pioneers will receive annual MediSave top-ups of $250-$900 as depending on their year of birth which can be used to cover their MediShield Life premiums. Previously the premium top-ups given $50-$200 from 2021 to 2025, which can also be used for their MediShield Life premiums.
Increase in Outpatient care subsidies: The pioneers get the increased subsidies at some places like in Polyclinics, CHAS and at Public Specialist Outpatient Clinics. Those pioneers who belong to Healthier SG will get special subsidies for screening tests and vaccinations at the chosen Healthier SG Primary Care Provider. Pioneers in the PGP receive an extra 50 % discount on treatments. In the case of general illnesses treatment there is no annual limit for support, while chronic illnesses receive subsidies between S$360 and S$540 annually. Also the treatment expenses like dental treatments, essential vaccines, and national health check-ups will also subsidized.
CareShield Life Additional Participation Incentives: This category of insurance program covers the pioneers with severe disabilities and it is an upgraded form of the ElderShield scheme. They will get an incentive of $1875 and an extra of $1125 divided yearly for 10 years, if the enrolment is done by CareShield Life by 31 December 2025. Basically they will get $3,000 as participation incentive for enrolling in CareShield Life from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025. If they have enrolled before January 2025 then they will get $4,000.
Disability Assistance Scheme: Under this the pioneers who are living their lives on physical support for doing their day to day works like they are dependent on others for food, bath, wash , to dress, mobility etc., the PGDAS provides a monthly cash reward of S$100 for life. The caregivers will receive the money for taking care.
Singapore Pioneer Generation Package: Claiming Process
Yearly application is not needed to get the benefit. The Govt. is responsible to add the pioneers automatically from the citizens database and applies subsidies based on their current records. The pioneers get the notification through the Singpass app and SMS. In case who aren’t digitally connected, they get informed by post.
